The goodThis is a decent sized 3 bed apartment that sleeps up to 5 people. We are a family of 4 and there was reasonable room for us. The sofas seated two adults and two teenagers, you would likely fit three younger kids on a sofa. The tv was a nice feature and the WiFi was reliable and appreciated.It is approximately a 15 minute walk to the sandy beach, or around 20-25 minutes to the main section at Arenal Bol. The old town can be reached in 10-15 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a 15-20 minute walk. We drove to the supermarkets, it is a 9 minute drive to the nice Mercadona store, or 5 to the nearest. The area is very hilly so not at all suitable for anyone who has mobility issues unless you drive everywhere. It kept us fit!The communal pool is a good size and there are loungers around it to dry off or sunbathe on. The car park runs under the property’s pool and keeps your car both secure and cooler. We didn’t receive the parking garage key until our 3rd day but we appreciated it once we did.My husband and son used the gym on the ground floor and found it adequate for their needs. Small but well equipped.There is a dining table with chairs in the property and a small table on the balcony. The view from the balcony is stunning. There is also an airer on the balcony, which we used often. The washing machine, situated off the kitchen, was really handy.There were plenty of plates and glasses to use. There were a few cupboards to store food and a large fridge freezer. We would have found scissors useful, a larger sharp knife and a pizza cutter. The microwave was useful.The badAs a British family, we are used to certain luxuries. A toaster - there isn’t one, you can use the grill setting on the oven to make toast and lay your bread on the metal shelf. The coffee maker was an Italian style moka pot, which you heat on the stove. It was fiddly but we made it work. The fridge kept alerting us it was too cold! We just turned the freezer side down to fix this.The ugly On check- in the oven, some plates and cutlery were not clean. Having just paid an 80 Euro cleaning fee we would expect to find everything clean. The oven smelled strongly of grease as did the dishwasher. I also had to clean the toilet seats.We couldn’t see the advertised towels within the property then realised the mismatched thin towels drying on the balcony were for us to use. Luckily we had beach towels with us which were soft enough for drying off after showering.We each had a thin sheet on the bed, which was a little too cool at night. My son used the thick blanket left in the room. The room would benefit from some kind of thicker sheet / comforter as we enjoyed in our previous apartment.The air conditioner unit was noisy, it got very cold in my daughters room but less cool in the main bedroom. A notice came on during our last day regarding the filter needing cleaning, which would explain the rattling. The air con was very necessary all the same.The bulbs in the kitchen were faulty and flickering, my husband removed these.The apartment does smell a little musty, which is not great for those of us with asthma and allergies. Opening the balcony door helped. I think removing the rugs may help remove the smell.Overall, this is a beautiful apartment in a lovely (albeit hilly) location. We enjoyed our stay but with a couple of tweaks it would be an excellent apartment.
