La Tabaccaia is part of the Podere Casina Rossa and is located along the ancient Lorenze route of customs and pilgrimage routes between Florence and Arezzo, among crops and woods, crossing well-preserved medieval villages. Casentino is known for its castles, sanctuaries, monasteries and medieval villages rich in culture and art; it was the home of Dante Alighieri's exile and many of these places are mentioned in the Divine Comedy; it is also a place of prayer and meditation, in fact St. Francis retreated there and received the stigmata at "Verna". The area is surrounded by the Casentinesi Forest Park, a reserve of wild plants and animals. The valley also offers various opportunities for recreation with cycling and trekking routes, a golf course-tennis-soccer-swimming pool.
